 Description of Advancements

Throughout the years toy soldiers have made a lot of advancements in the materials that are used to the packaging in which they are made, this is all mainly due too the media at the given times and the advancements in technologies, for instance the change from lead to resin was in the whole due to the fact that children started to get lead poisoning from playing with them. Another way in which toy soldiers have changed is due to the audience that use them, the change in audience started when the military stopped using them for planning purposes and started to give them to children to play with this created a mass change as manufacturers had to change the way they looked to suit more of a child like purpose, less pointy areas, using easy materials to create masses of them, and no longer painting them or shipping them out in simple bass colours, which would later change to the normal green, grey, orange and yellow we see today.

 Photo Albums

 Brief intro

Photo albums started creation in the 1860s. They were created to hold  carte de visites these were photos on bits of card. These were mostly used to withhold family photos however nowadays they are used by photographers to hold their best photos in the be exhibited in gallery's.

Who Created The first Photo Album

Julia Margaret Cameron was the creator of the photo album the book was created to illustrate a literary piece of work, the book was the 1874 edition of Tennyson's Idylls of the King it contained a dozen of Cameron's images which were specifically created for the book.

 Brief history

Over the years Photo albums have changed their purpose and the way they look, when they were first created they were leather back books where you could stick your favourite photos on the pages, then they moved to a more plastic back and almost looked like a folder and now we use our mobile phones to create these albums where they are saved until the phones breaks or it gets too full and we delete the memories.

 Landscape Photography

There are many different types of landscape photography that are extremely beautiful to look at. These types consist of :

- seascape

- mountain

- forest

- cloudscape

- astrophotography

- panorama

- long exposure

- sunrise/sunset

- abstract

These all group to make landscape photography what it is. Each type has a line of different things you can do in them. They have all mostly developed over the years making them more popular or more detailed.

 Seascape Photography

The sea offers one of the most amazing locations to get stunning images. By contrasting the water with something in the foreground you show both the calm and the aggressive actions of the ocean.

You have many creative options to use for seascape photography, such as using longer shutter times to blur the water, you could use a filter to cut out glare or help average out the difference between the sky and the sea. Really, you’re only limited by your own creativity when taking images of the sea.

 Mountain Photography

Mountain landscape photography is gorgeous. But, one of the challenges with this type of landscape is that you and your gear may have to travel a fair distance to get the images you want. however it will be worth the hike.

Mountain photography started when the french government sent 2 scientists to attempt to photograph the alps this was seen as an expedition and they were successful and the photos were exhibited in london and paris in 1849. However, over time mountainous photography has changed as it has gone from mountain expeditions with 20 men, to just a long hike done by one photographer with around 3 bags. Also what has changed is how we take mountain photos, in the 1800's these photos were mainly in portrait due to the cameras in the time and normally had a few people in frame however due to advances in technologies the final images have now changed a lot, they are now in landscape format, either has a lake or river in the photo and will have the sunrise or sunset in the background.

 Forest Photography

Forest photography is gorgeous and in most pictures is very relaxing to look at and normally become more and more detailed the more you look at them.

in creation of these stunning images the photographers would have had to look at the ISO, aperture, shutter speed and contrast to create an amazing photo they also look for shadows and colours to make it look stunning or eerie.

There are 30,000 old forest photography photos, slides, negatives, plates, and films that still exist, they reside in an archive and date from 1920's - 1960's they are of nature and lumberjacks in the United States and Canada.

 Cloudscape Photography

A Belgian photographer, Leonard Misonne, made his mark by producing black-and-white shots of dark clouds and clear skies. Even more remarkable was the noted American photographer Alfred Stieglitz, who actually created a series of shots of clouds called “Equivalents” in the early part of the 20th century. Equivalents are groundbreaking because they are viewed today as one of the first examples of abstract photography.

 Astrophotography

For this type of photography normally people take these photos with either a person or object that we relatively know the size of near to the bottom of the image with the majority of the image being taken up by the night sky which makes the viewer think about how big space is and also how beautiful it is.

Astrophotography, also known as astronomical imaging, is photography of astronomical objects, celestial events, or areas of the night sky. These make for stunning photos and really show off the beauty of space.

This type of photography is used prominently in this day and age due to the software we have on our mobile smart phones this technology has paved the way to changing how people take photos. To create a photograph like this all you would have to do is take your phone out go on your camera and go onto the panorama mode.

 Long Exposure

Iceland-Bruarfoss-Abstract.jpg

doing this type of photography could take many turns as you can do light line photography and blurred water, both of these can look incredible wherever they are exhibited weather that be online and in galleries.

long exposure photography is when you set your cameras shutter speed to a higher setting so it takes longer for the lens to capture the image, doing this will blur the movement in the image.

 Sunrise/Sunset Photography

Sunrise/sunset photography Is difficult as you have to either take the photos in the moment they happen or make sure that you check the weather on that day and be 100% sure there's gonna be an amazing sunrise/sunset. This technicality makes this type of photography very finicky however the photos taken in this type of photography are normally beautiful.

Throughout this type of photography there haven't been many changes except in the quality of the images however the popularity of these images have boomed due to the fact that everyone can take the photos on their phones and posting them on social media making them very prominent in photography due to this popularity.

 Abstract Photography

abstract-photography-3.jpg

This type of  photography also has many different types within it these include: model photography, ink photography, glass ball photography, light lines, crowd photography and many others. This makes this type the most popular and normally the most sort after type due to the wide range of ideas that you can do within it.

 Hardware

Hardware for photography is very vast and there are many different things that can change an image drastically. The main ones we use are obvious a camera, tri-pod and lenses.

throughout the years this hardware has changed which also changed the way we created the photos we use in exhibitions and online galleries.

originally the process of creating a photo started with the camera in which it started with a box with a hole in it with a piece of paper that trapped the light inside, then it went to cameras that trapped the light and put them on film in which. you had to get enlargers and chemicals to place the photo onto photo sensitive paper, it then changed to people using memory cards and sticks to hold their photos on them so they can look at them digitally on their phone or computer or print them on a printer, we can also now take them on our mobile or smart phones whenever we wish.

As well as creating miniatures and table top bits and bobs they have also entered the virtual world by creating a series of games. These games have been growing due to their advertising areas mainly on social media such as tik tok and Instagram stories and posts as well as rarely showing up on YouTube. This being said their advertisements for mobile games are very reminiscent of what they actually are compared to most trailers for mobile games now which frequently tend to irritate players they have obviously researched into this and found the best strategies to get them on top and it works. At this given time they are advertising two of their 40K franchise mobile games which are new and three of their console games this helps due to their now wide spread community of table top players, modelers, artists and mobile/console players.

Model wise they have made a lot of development in materials used to create their miniatures. This has gone from lead to plastic and resin this change was mainly due to people getting lead poisoning from their models and other manufacturers miniatures.

For their social status it as I have said before it has boomed recently primarily due to new social media platforms helping their audience more broad than only your stereotypical nerd types their are now animators for it, esports, artists, social media influencers and podcasters, because of this boom in community games workshop have not been laid back and let it happen they now pump out more models and games than ever before.
